Prep 1/2 Book Launch

Yesterday the Prep/1/2 children officially became authors! The gym was alive with excitement as the children shared their precious books with their families, friends and student helpers. For many weeks now, Prep/1/2 students have been studying different authors, with a particular focus on the structure of a story (narrative). Being able to identify the beginning (characters, setting), middle (problem, sequence of events) and an ending (solution to the problem) enabled the children to create their own amazing stories. We thought they did a wonderful job!

Grade 5/6 PBL History Launch

Yesterday the students in the 4/5/6 unit had a great session of kids teaching kids based on our history topic. The students have been researching an important Australian historical figure and the impact they have had on our lives. Biographies have been written and published on websites and all students got to present their findings in small groups. Everybody had a great time being a teacher for a moment in time!

Grade 3/4 PBL Launch

Nudge a Neighbour, Change a Behaviour!

Today, families were invited to come and see West’s best filmmakers and hopefully change some behaviours! This term, Grade 3/4 students have been working on a PBL (Project Based Learning) Unit titled “Natural Resources: Nudge a Neighbour, Change a Behaviour!” Students have been learning about sustainability, natural resources and their environment, as well as what makes a good team. Students have been working in teams to create videos that encourage others to change their behaviours, to create a better world. We are so proud of all the hard work the students have put into learning and making their persuasive and entertaining videos!

Dancing at Assembly

Don’t forget the students will be dancing at assembly tomorrow morning, showcasing their moves that Mrs Libby Kennedy has taught them. We thank her for her work at MWPS over the last couple of weeks. The kids have loved it!

New Playground Equipment

The new playground arrived on two trucks on Tuesday afternoon!  The busy task of now installing each part of the playground will continue until at least Friday. There has been plenty of interest shown by the students at the diggers, concrete trucks and progress of the build. We look forward to the grand opening next week. Stay tuned!!
