Social Networking

Communication in today’s world includes Social Networking. This form of communication can be positive, but can also carry risks, especially for children. There are many ways to assist your child to be safe on social networking sites:

At school we teach the children a great deal about digital citizenship because we want our students to be safe, happy and ethical online; just as we do in the offline world.

But students don’t always have the life experience or brain development to navigate technology safely and effectively. So, like many other areas of life, they need guidance from trusted adults, including teachers and family members

I’ve included some very useful resources for parents/carers. I do hope you find them valuable.

House Cross Country

Last Friday was the annual Mildura West House Cross Country event. All students competed for their house across the day earning points for their team and students who came 1st, 2nd or 3rd received a ribbon. At the completion of the day students assembled in the gym where Red (Darling) House was announced the winner. Despite the warm weather students displayed wonderful resilience all day and their behaviour was outstanding. A big thank you to all the wonderful parent volunteers who assisted on the day, without your support the day definitely wouldn’t have ran as smoothly.

ANZAC Ceremony

On Tuesday, we conducted a School Community ANZAC Ceremony. This opportunity allowed students to learn about the procedures and significance of the ceremony. We had our school leaders give a commemorative address, Grade 4P sing and a Special guest, John Barnes talk about what ANZAC Day means to him. The students showed great respect and I hope they try to exhibit the ANZAC spirit in their lives. I attended the DAWN service with our School Leaders, it was a moving experience. Thank you to the parents who rose very early to bring the school leaders to the ceremony. A BIG thankyou to our Office Manager, Elaine Brown for making the beautiful wreath.
