Grade 3/4 Lock 11 Excursion

Today Grade 3 and 4 went on an excursion to Lock 11 as part of our inquiry into ‘How the World Works’. We are investigating natural and human activities that change the Earth’s surface over time. We discovered that people regulated the flow of the river by building the lock system. The process of building Lock 11 took 4 years. We also learnt that the river often floods. The largest flood was in 1870. During these floods, Lock 11 can disappear under the flood waters. We learnt so much and look forward to discovering more about changes to the Earth’s surface.
